Steve Pack -PURE TEXAS C&W CD "Flesh and Bone" FROM AUSTIN, TEXAS!
Based in Austin Texas, Steve grew up in the shadow of a hill called Bowman Ridge near Stephenville Texas . Born into a family of great story tellers he’s a singer/songwriter who loves to tell a good story. Honest songs about the stuff of life: love and happiness; regret and heartache.
Fortunate enough to grow up within earshot of some great radio stations: KLIF, WBAP & KZEW out of Ft Worth/Dallas; WBAP was the great Ft Worth country station where midnight cowboy Bill Mack held court playing the best, purest county music on the planet. Loretta, Hank, Lefty, Earnest Tubb, Merle, Johnny Cash and on and on.
At the same time rock station KZEW, which had the most eclectic playlist of its time, played everything from classic rock to progressive Texas alt/country (called Outlaw Country at the time). All this plus growing up singing gospel music in the rural country church of his youth helped form his musical sensibilities.
According to Steve “When eight track tapes came out the first tape I bought was Merle Haggard, the second was Led Zeppelin. My tastes haven’t changed much; I love pure, gritty, even homely country & Western but can’t resist the strength and power of rock and blues and the emotion of gospel.”
That tension is reflected in the sound of his debut album “Flesh and Bone”. A country tinged mix of Rock, Americana , Folk & Gospel. Eleven original songs all written or co-written by Steve.
